The Patent Pending 3Dfier
is a directshow filter that transforms normal video file to 3D in realtime. 3Dfier filter works with popular media players and support various video format as long as the files were played using direcshow.
Here you can download demo versions for evaluation purpose. This demo version runs for around 10 minutes. We are happy to work with 3D display makers/OEMs to customize a filter that works for the specifc display. Anaglyph is not the best way you can view 3D with 3Dfier filter but it is most easily available. 3Dfier works perfectly with side-by-side 3D Displays such as iZ3D monitor. It also works with 3D Vision Video Player and Stereoscopic Player that supports multiple 3D Display devices including Zalman 3D monitor, nVidia 3D Vision, e-Dimensional shutter glasses and 3DTVs. Current version works with most versions of Media Player Classic. It also works with DVBViewer and allows you to watch DVB TV channels in 3D. Contact us for more information and partnership opportunity.

Vertical Pulfrich Effect: The Secret Behind 3Dfier 3D Conversion

Now that we have the patents granted, we are in a better position to talk more about our technology. Many of you might be curious about the efficiency with which we were able to have achieved great 3D conversion in real time.

The catch is while it takes a long time to figure out how to do it, the implementation is actually quite simple.

Pulfrich Effect is well-known 3D conversion technic that works pretty well for some scenarios such as camera moving horizontally for static scenes (like films taken on a moving train for the landscapes). However, for most of the video scenes, you don't expect object moving only horizontally and hence the application of Pulfrich 3D is quite limited.

Years back, we were thinking why we can't get the vertical movement also generate 3D effects? That's when we start to develop and come out our theory namely Vertical Pulfrich Effects

Figure 1 below gives a very clear demonstration of how it works:

The original video sequence on the first row shows a dropping ball that has no vertical movement. Such kind of video would not be able to generate Pulfrich 3D effect. 3D video would not be generated by such video through the time delay of Pulfrich algorithm.

However, by doing a skew filter on the original video sequence, you can see in the time sequence on the second row below, the ball is actually moving horizontally toward the triangle. This enables the possibility to add Pulfrich effect to this video, which was originally not possible.

Figure 2 further shows how Pulfrich effect generates 3D effects from the original video sequence and the filtered video sequence. Now the ball appears to be behind the triangle by combining the original video sequence with the delayed sequence from the filtered video!

Furthermore, the converted 3D video also perserve most of the Pulfrich effects horizontally. Any vertical or hortizontal motion in the video sequence would hence generate 3D effects through 3Dfier 3D conversion algorithm. This is why 3Dfier directshow filter has become one of the best 2D to 3D conversion solutions.

Hereby we decide to reveal more details on how we did it and we are open to the possibility to license our IP and source code to any party who is interested in our solution.

Our IP is not only good for software implementation for 3D conversion, it has also covered the possibility to create optical-only 2D to 3D solution by adding optical filter to change shape on one eye while creating lighting difference between two eyes. Welcome to contact us to find more details.

Although 3Dfier algorithm would never be able to offer a true 3D construction from 2D images,
most of the 2D to 3D conversion solutions are to create 3D illusions after all.The question is which solution can achieve a better one and give enjoyable user experience!

3DTV Desktop Release!

We are happy to announce the first release of 3DTV Desktop today!

3DTV Desktop is a software solution that allows you to navigate and control your Windows7 desktop that was projected to 3DTV seamlessly when you turned on the side-by-side to 3D mode on your 3DTV. The side-by-side to 3D mode on 3DTVs assumes the contents on the screen are all side-by-side video and always convert them to the 3D mode. This is very annoying when you are actually projecting your PC screen to the 3DTV. For example, when you are viewing Youtube 3D contents in side-by-side format through your 3DTV, you would need to use your remote to turn on side-by-side to 3D and when you are done with that specific clip, you will need to use your remote control again to turn it off so that you can control your Browser or Windows screen properly before you start viewing another 3D clips again. Then you need to use your remote control again to switch to the side-by-side to 3D mode.

3DTV Desktop offers a seamless way to let you browse and use your PC screen while in side-by-side to 3D mode and automatically switched to the right mode when you are playing 3D contents in fullscreen. This is a life saver for users who plays 3D contents from PC screen and from the websites.
Download the evaluation version of 3DTV Desktop here. This evaluation version expires in 10 minutes and needs to be restarted again. You can purchase a license key to unlock the time limitation.

Requirements:

Windows 7 with Aero Glass support is required to run 3DTV Desktop. From the "Personalization" Control Panel. Choose one of the Aero themes to enable Aero Glass Support.

As the screen will be reduced into half width, it is recommended to choose larger font from "Display" Control Panel for a better view.

Known Issue and Limitation:

When you saw a "Failed to register hotkey" error message, it is because 3DTV Desktop application is already running.

When at 3DTV mode, there would be 2 cursors on the screen. The thinner one is the right cursor for the screen. This is the limitation of the product and we will not be fixing it. It won't affect your pleasure viewing 3D contents.

How to use 3DTV Desktop
: please see here.

How to Use 3DTV Desktop

Requirements:

Windows 7 with Aero Glass support is required to run 3DTV Desktop. From the "Personalization" Control Panel. Choose one of the Aero themes to enable Aero Glass Support.

As the screen will be reduced into half width, it is recommended to choose larger font from "Display" Control Panel for a better view.

How to use:

Download and extract the 3DTV Desktop V1.0.0.exe. No need to install the application. Connect your PC to the 3DTV and set display mode to external (projector) only by Win + P key. While output is at 3DTV only, run 3DTV Desktop V1.0.0.exe.

When the application is first executed, you will see the display shrink in half to the left like:

You can now turn on the 3D mode from your 3DTV remote and choose to convert side-by-side to 3D. Now you will see left screen and the right white background overlayed to show a bright normal Windows Display.

Under 3DTV mode, you can use "Ctrl+2" to go back to normal Display and "Ctrl+3" to enter the 3DTV mode again.

3DTV Desktop detects the display mode changes and apply the settings to the primary display. If you see a wrong dimension after mode switches, press ctrl+2 and then ctrl+3 to reset the dimension.

3DTV Desktop will monitor the top Window in focus and when it becomes full screen, 3DTV Desktop will automatically switch to normal mode so that you can watch the full screen video in 3D automatically. This is very useful when you play side-by-side videos from a player or from the website. For example, when you see a 3D side-by-side Youtube video on the Youtube web page, you will see the video displayed side-by-side on the page. Once you click to play the video in full screen, you will see the video played in 3D seamlessly on your 3DTV and when you exit full screen mode, 3DTV Desktop would automatically switch back to 3DTV mode so that you can gain control to the browser screen without having to turn off the 3D mode from your 3DTV by the remote control. This is a life saver for 3DTV owners!

Use tray menu to quit/exit 3DTV Desktop or register the product.

3Dfier supports 3DTV!

If you recently purchased a 3DTV that does not come with built-in 2D to 3D conversion capability, no worries. 3Difer can work with most of the 3DTV on the market. Here is how it works:

Most 3DTVs on the market today have the capability to turn side-by-side video to frame sequential format automatically with a 3D button on the remote control to work with the shutter glasses that come with the 3DTV. This is mainly for the 3D broadcasting that are running in side-by-side format. What you need to do is to use either Stereoscopic Player or Media Player Classic and make sure you set the output format to side-by-side (which is default of 3Dfier) and play the video to full screen. Then turn on the side-by-side to 3D by the remote control et Voila!

Some 3DTVs like Samsung's disabled the side-by-side to 3D conversion when the input is HDMI 1.4 3D compliant mode (1280x720@60Hz or1920x1080@24Hz) . Make sure you do not set to these modes in order to make it work. In fact, if you are running a current shipping PC, it might come with only HDMI 1.3 and you won't have the HDMI 1.4 3D support. This is bad for BD3D playback but it will work well with side-by-side to 3D conversion or 2D to 3D conversion with 3Dfier! Enjoy the experience of 3Dfier on the large TV screen today!

Stereoscopic Player works with DVD and so does 3Dfier!

There is a confusion whether 3Dfier works with DVD and the answer is obviously dependent on the media players that works with 3Dfier. And surely the Stereoscopic Player/3DVision Video Player can work with DVD and hence 3Dfier! Check out this page from 3dtv.at. It tells how DVD works with Stereoscopic Player.

If you use Media Player Classic, see here for the setting to make DVD works.

3Dfier works with e-Dimensional shutter glasses!

Guys, while e-Dimensional shutter glasses does not offer the best resolution and quality, it is fairly good in a dark room (imagine the theater experience). It runs with regular monitor. You don't need 120Hz monitor to use it. You see flickering at 60Hz and much less flickering with 75Hz. You don't really see flickering in the dark and best of all, it works with 3Dfier! Just select the output format as interleave from Highly recommended Stereoscopic Player (or from 3Dfier control panel if you use Media Player Classics) and that's it! Enjoy e-Dimensional with 3Dfier!

Edit

Thanks to jcon's feedback on e-Dimensional with 120Hz projector below:

jcon said...

Hi guys,

I use eDimensional shutter glasses together with a 120Hz compatible Acer projector and there is a better way of using them with the 3Dfier plugin: You can use EDActivator.exe from the eDimensional homepage and select "page-flipping" from the menu. In Stereoscopic Player you also select "software page flipping" as the viewing method. In 3dfier you select side by side output instead of interleave. This combination gives a much brighter picture!

A 3rd party 2D to 3D review reveals a sad thing

You probably will feel angry as I am if you likes our product. From this independent review, you can see very clearly our older algorithm got reversed and you who have downloaded know that anyone who installed our filter agreed not to do so. Well, but this is not the end of the world. Put your red-cyan glasses on and you can see our new release has improved and beats theirs. Since we are the inventor of this best solution and much cheaper, why bother buying their solution! If you like our products and respect the efforts we put in making 2D to 3D come true, please tell your friends and family say NO to them!
